HP characters ends their trip on Deathly Hallows

6:43 PM, 2008-Jul-3 .. Posted in Arts .. 0 comments .. Link

Are you into magic and wizards? If you are, then you probably have read the last six books of HP books; which the series began in 1997 and since then became favorites within fans and critics worldwide. Recently, anticipation is almost over. To end the series is the seventh and the last installment of HP books: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

This bestselling novel written by British author J.K Rowling, was released on July 21, 2007. This book entails the end of the journey of Harry Potter and his friends; as well and the final battle between Potter and Lord Voldemort.

Deathly Hallows created many controversies in the media; and one of them is the rumored death of the protagonist, Harry Potter. However, the author herself said that the 7th book will be Potter’s final adventure, together with the Hogwarts crew. In an interview with the press, here’s a vague statement from Rowling. “"I have never been tempted to kill him [Harry] off before the final book because I've always planned seven books, and I want to finish on seven books… So it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character' "

This might be a shock to everyone, but only the author has the right to do what she pleases. Whether Harry lives or dies, his character lies on Rowling’s power.

Aside from these rumors hanging in the air, the last HP book installment was published in a different way, unlike in the first six books. Instead of the usual dedications, this is the only one that uses an epigraph: two quotes containing death and friendship.

Deathly Hallows was printed in different publishing houses in five countries: Bloomsbury Publishing in the United Kingdom; Scholastic in the United States; Raincoast Books in Canada; and Allen & Unwin in both Australia and New Zealand. This last HP installment was sold in over ninety-three countries, with a total of 11 million copies within the first day.

In 2007, owner of Time Magazine Lev Grossman included Deathly Hallows as one of the Top 10 Fiction Books, praising the author for its imaginative and superb writing. Comparing it to other Potter volumes, he states, “This isn't the most elegant of the Potter volumes, but it feels like an ending, the final iteration of Rowling's abiding thematic concern: the overwhelming importance of continuing to love in the face of death.”

Potter may have ended his journey on this last installment of the book, but his spirit lives on forever in every fans and readers’ hearts.

Achieving "art" -- the painful way

12:47 AM, 2008-Apr-4 .. Posted in Arts .. 0 comments .. Link
I was talking awhile ago with my brother-in-law through MSN and I gave him the link to this blog to check it out. Then we brought the subject about tattoos and stuff, then he mentioned "carving." At first, I was like "What? Carving? What the hell is that?" Then he babbled on about how it was the new thing nowadays and that its a new piercing method. I still didn't get it though so he sent me an email... and seeing those pictures gave me the shivers. If you guys still don't know what I'm talking about, then I'll post the actual contents of the e-mail, then the pics!!!!

Enjoy "painfully" looking at them!!!

If you are amongst those who think all forwards are sweet and funny, well this one will be an eye opener ...

The photos in this mail are all real and the person getting it done is in her complete senses. This is what the west is advocating as the newest body art.

It's not tattoos anymore... they are doing carving now. Soon it will catch up here too……

Soo

I'm sorry, but all I can say is:

What the hell is wrong with these kids today? Soon this might be the trend in the east too…. Well I always think what it would be like in the time of our kids!!!!!

Is this “looks so wonderful” that it's worth letting someone mutilate your body in order to achieve it?

And dun dun dun.. the pics!!!!

                   The final touch!!!
I hope you enjoyed (or almost enjoyed) taking a peek of these pictures. These photos were a bit large, so I have to resize them to fit all of them here. I was really thinking of getting a tattoo but after seeing these images made me change my mind. I don't want to go through those painful ordeal just to  beautify my body. Being clean is enough for me.

Movie makers goes prehistoric with 10, 000 BC

11:36 PM, 2008-Apr-3 .. Posted in Movies .. 0 comments .. Link
It's been awhile since I last went to the movies. The last time I went was with some bunch of friends and one of them bought me tickets to see One Missed Call. Sad to say, it didn't meet my expectations. Although there were some scenes that made me cover my eyes, but overall, it left us moviegoers hanging. The ending was kinda blah. But don't worry though. I won't waste my time doing a blog about that scary movie. Instead, I'd take you guys back in time... to the old age --  where our ancestors used to survive through hunting wild animals and wore un-fashionable, shabby clothing.

10, 000 BC takes us back in prehistoric time -- to a world where it is far different than what we imagine. Taken from the movie's website, the sypnosis goes like this:

"In a remote mountain tribe, the young hunter D’Leh (Steven Strait) has found his heart’s passion – the beautiful Evolet (Camilla Belle).  But when a band of mysterious warlords raid his village and kidnap Evolet, D’Leh leads a small group of hunters to pursue the warlords to the end of the world to save her.  As they venture into unknown lands for the first time, the group discovers there are civilizations beyond their own and that mankind’s reach is far greater than they ever knew.  At each encounter the group is joined by other tribes who have been attacked by the slave raiders, turning D’Leh’s once-small band into an army.

Driven by destiny, the unlikely warriors must battle prehistoric predators while braving the harshest elements.  At their heroic journey’s end, they uncover a lost civilization and learn their ultimate fate lies in an empire beyond imagination, where great pyramids reach into the skies.

Here they will take their stand against a tyrannical god who has brutally enslaved their own.  And it is here that D’Leh finally comes to understand that he has been called to save not only Evolet but all of civilization."

Watching this movie on that particular day was memorable. Not only it taught me about the prehistoric life and early civilization, but it also made me realize the true meaning of bravery and loyalty. An added bonus was that I got to watch it with a good friend of mine... who later became my boyfriend (yay for me!!! ). Nuff said... I hope you guys check out this movie. If it's not in your movie theaters, then better buy the DVD. I swear, its worth your every penny!

Newfound madness on meerkats

9:38 PM, 2008-Mar-23 .. Posted in animals .. 3 comments .. Link
Ever wondered what kind of animal is Timon from the Lion King? Really, it never bothered me before I stumbed upon a nature documentary with a mixture of drama, aired on Animal Planet. It told a story about a group of meerkats living and trying to survive in a harsh Kalahari desert.

Meerkat Manor is a British television program and is a field study for the Kalahari Meerkat Project. They delve on the life of meerkats and their cooperative nature. Meerkats deal on family issues, loyalty, survival, politics, and more. Out of a dozen families of meerkats in the desert, one group was being studied, and they are called the
Whiskers family. Flower, the female protagonist of the story, is the leader of the pack. She is joined by her male partner, the brave Zaphod.

As the story unfolds, the Whiskers go on with their journey along with other rival meerkats such as the Commandoes and the Lazulis. Not only these meerkats face competition, but they also have to learn to survive against the other residents of the desert.

Now... you might ask why I am getting my hands full over a two-feet tall animal? Well, its because I just watched the season 2 of the show a few hours ago. Animal Planet aired a 6-hour marathon of the series and I can't wait for the next season to start next week. Season 3 starts next Wednesday, April 2, on Animal Planet at 8PM. This is viewed only for Asian countries since it ended in other countries.

This might seem weird to you guys, but I learned a lot of things just by watching them. The show is not scripted. In fact, it shows the harsh reality of nature. Meerkats may be small in size, but they may be braver than any of us humans. You may never know, but these "little heroes" had an impact over a dozen million people in the world.

I'm a fan of a "crack whore" singer!

8:52 PM, 2008-Mar-22 .. Posted in Music .. 0 comments .. Link
You guys must think I'm having crack right now for being a fan of one "crack"user. Well for starters, I never used crack, and I don't intend to start that trend. I'm thin, yes, but never in my life have I tasted any drugs. So wonder why I'm suddenly announcing for my newfound interest on one of the gals?

                             Amy Winehouse

Actually, it's not the crack that made me go ga-ga over this 24-year old young lady. It's because of her songs -- yes, her songs that made me sit back and say, "That's one great damn music she's making!! She's got talent!!" If you guys are still clueless about what the hell am I talking about? Well, I'm talking about none other than the Grammy Award winner Amy Winehouse!

Her song,  "Rehab" made a hit not only at the Grammys, but also in other music awards as well. Her album Back to Black won many titles such as "Album of the Year"  and "Best Pop Vocal Album." She has been nominated a couple of times in other categories, which some of them she bagged... and she definitely deserved it.

I'm actually addicted to her song Rehab. And there's also another song of hers that sends me shivers whenever I hear it. It's called "Love is a losing game." It's a ballad song and she sang it really beautifully.

I can't help but wonder though why there have been many negative feedbacks about her. Sure, she used to be on crack and stuff like that, but it doesn't mean that she doesn't deserve everything that she got. Amy is mad talented, whether in singing and in song writing. Her soul, jazz, and R&B melodies made a lot of impact on some souls out there so there's no reason that she should be judged unfairly just because of her background.

If you know how to appreciate music, then start it by listening to Amy Winehouse. I'm dead sure you won't regret it, cause I never did. :)

Festival escapades and blogs comeback!!!

7:00 PM, 2008-Mar-22 .. Posted in Random Thoughts and Revelations .. 1 comments .. Link
Finally!!! I have posted a new entry here!!! I didn't really think I could post something new here, but I'm glad that I'm back with some new things to blog here.

First things first. School's over so thank goodness for that. I've been dreading school for as long as I can remember. Sadly enough though, I'm not graduating yet. But don't worry. You'll soon see me wearing a toga with a diploma in my hands (I hope...). So now, I'll just concentrate on finishing my degree and the same time, having fun with my friends.

Speaking of friends, I met quite a few actually. It's been a fun ride hanging out with them. I couldn't say it's the best, but being with them has made my day. We've had some good times... and sometimes bad, but who cares anyway, right?

Another thing that's been making me busy after school was the Kaamulan festival. My friends and I went there a couple of weeks ago and damn... we had a blast!!! I didn't really go into a drinking spree and decided to be the boring one among the group. Seriously, I didn't sip even one alcoholic drink while I was there, but it was nice getting sober for a long time. And I had fun being the sober one too :D

So.. to cheer and celebrate me being the only girl out there who's partnerless, and sober (can't help but add that one...) here are a few random pics of us at the Kaamulan Festival.

Enjoy making fun of us!!!

The gang at the Kaamulan Capitol grounds...
From left to right: Connie, Charmz, Maw, Pau, Ted, Kert, Rizza, me, and Kxa!!!

Taking a pit stop at the Monastery of Transfiguration... gotta love the flowers

Taking ourselves a snap shot at Nasuli Resort. Most of the gang took a swim there except me and Pau.

The bustling street at Kaamulan grounds.

Hope you guys enjoyed taking an eye of these pics!! If you want to see more... just look me up at my friendster or facebook accounts. But I won't be easy on you pal. I don't want to fill you in with my account details (email address and my name... blah blah...). Like what the saying goes... "Seek and you shall find." So better search me up dude!! Good luck!!

I feel so damn un-pretty

1:07 PM, 2007-Nov-25 .. Posted in Random Thoughts and Revelations .. 0 comments .. Link

I’ve been rambling on about face lifts through a couple of posts, and on this next post, I am still going to ramble about it. You know why? Because sadly, I can’t afford one. Even though I wanted to have my face altered, but then I have no luck in that. I don’t have the resource. I don’t have money. In short, I’m as poor as a beggar.

Getting face lift in San Diego, CA is no sweat for some people. Others may want it at Los Angeles. But what about me? What about poor ol’ me? I’m just an average girl, living on the other side of the world. Heck, I live in a third world country for heaven’s sake! Well, it’s not that I am not proud at it. I swear, I love my country. But sometimes, I talk about life being unfair. How come people get what they want?

I want to be beautiful. I swear. I just went through a “broken heart”, and the guy I like (or at least, loved), just told me that we’re just FRIENDS. Yes. Just friends. How hard it may be to accept it, but that’s all am I gonna be in his life. So friends it is. So why am I talking about getting face lifts? It’s because I feel so un-pretty at the moment. I just feel so darn un-pretty.

Maybe this is just a temporary phase for me. I don’t know. After I get my life back on track, maybe I won’t have to think about face lifts anymore. It won’t do me good anyways. So just let me be for a moment and let me sulk in my own misery.

Always "rich" and "famous"

12:43 PM, 2007-Nov-25 .. Posted in Entertainment News .. 0 comments .. Link

I was reading through some old magazines when I stumbled into this one article about the rich people, and how they are doing in the “money-making-earning” business. They were ranking the richest people, probably in the United States.

Those people like George Lindemann, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, P.Diddy (formerly known as Puff Daddy), basketball star Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, and a few others made it to the top lists. They have made billions of dollars, and its no wonder why they’re always seen on the spotlight.

Lindemman made himself rich by selling contact lenses and invested in natural gas; the Olsen twins in fashion and movies; P.Diddy worked his butt through his musical career and other investments; Jordan endorsed in sneakers and currently a part-owner and became a Managing Member of Basketball Operations of the Charlotte Bobcats; and Winfrey became successful through her talk show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, as well as appearing in other shows, and then as a president of the Harpo Productions.

These individuals became successful in their own right. Who will follow them on the next twenty years or so?

Ramblings on bald hair and transplants

12:11 PM, 2007-Nov-25 .. Posted in body treatments .. 0 comments .. Link

Bald is beautiful. That’s what they say. It’s clean… and you don’t have to worry about messy hair and shampoos. But then, there are just a couple of individuals who don’t dig the “bald” look. Having hair is still the “in” thing.

I heard that hair transplants works best for people who have high risk in losing their hair. Of course, hair restoration may cost you to shell out big bucks of money, but looking good with hair is worth spending for. Just pick a right company that gives best treatment and services, and with the right budget, then you’re on the roll.

Just make sure those big hair transplant companies don’t rip you off with big cash and ended up looking like having a “bad hair day” all the time. I swear, if that would happen to me, I would sue them like crazy. But then again, my hair is healthy. Then I guess I won’t have to do this. Just read this as a warning from me. Toodles!

Finding art and beauty... through a tattoo

11:54 AM, 2007-Nov-25 .. Posted in Fashion .. 0 comments .. Link
It gives me shivers whenever I hear the word “tattoo”. Wonder why? Because getting a tattoo is a pain. I see people on TV getting tattoos and they shout and scream “bloody Mary” all the time. But then again, tattoos are beautiful. It has art. And every art has its meaning. So I guess people who gets tattoo probably has a purpose on getting one.

So instead of degrading tattoo, I might as well promote them. And what better way to start is to find a place that gives better services, as well as class. I heard Sacramento tattoos have better services than in other states. So if you live near that place, then you’re just in luck. But if you find another one that gives best tattoos, then give it a shot.

Finding the right place doesn’t matter, but what’s important is the beauty and art of your tattoo.

Ramblings on fame and LA surgery

11:28 AM, 2007-Nov-25 .. Posted in body treatments .. 0 comments .. Link

Survival of the fittest. That’s what they usually say when you are part of the entertainment industry. You would do whatever it takes to become a part of their world – to become a celebrity.

Many people have testified that every time they try their luck in auditions, they get turned down. They may tell you your flaws, or worse, some may insult you for your looks. “This is what I am…” someone remarked. “I can’t change the way I look… this is what they gave me.”

Well, here’s the good news though. Technology evolved. And with technology, your life may change in an instant. Now, with just a touch of the knife, you will have a brand new look.

They say that Los Angeles face lift surgery works wonders. Testimonials revealed that their business is booming than in other states. Better try your luck getting surgery in LA before it’s too late.

If you really want to reach for your dream, then go forth and do what its best. Just make sure you take responsibility of your actions.

Future plans for NY... plastic surgery, and autism

10:50 PM, 2007-Oct-1 .. Posted in Random Thoughts and Revelations .. 0 comments .. Link
After gaining friends from the other side of the globe, I have future plans to go to the "city that never sleeps," and that is none other than NEW YORK!

Some of my Asian American friends live in New York, and one of them told me that if I go there, they would show me around the place. I won't have to spend a dime, they said. That would be really cool, right? And while I'm there, I might just check out New York, NY plastic surgery, and some other places that caters to surgery.

Or maybe I might also visit any hospitals related to autism. Since I'm there now, why not try to find something and maybe find answers for my younger brother. It's like hitting two birds with one stone, right?

Going under the knife? Or maybe not...

10:23 PM, 2007-Oct-1 .. Posted in Random Thoughts and Revelations .. 0 comments .. Link
Getting a liposuction? A nose job? Boob job? Any kind of "perfection" you want for your body? Well... I certainly couldn't afford that. I am very very thin. And getting plastic surgery ain't gonna work for me. Mmm... well maybe it might. But if given the option to do it, I'd take a rain check any day.

But if you really want to do it, then fly somewhere in the US and find a nice surgery company there. A place like in a Baltimore Maryland cosmetic surgery might be a good choice. I'm sure you might find something good in that city. Or if you want a celebrity-status like treatment, then go the distance and head yourself straight to California.

Who knows? After getting that "beauty" treatment, you might get discovered while walking in the streets. That would be a rare moment, right?

Getting nosy over celebrity nose jobs

10:00 PM, 2007-Oct-1 .. Posted in Entertainment News .. 0 comments .. Link
After seeing them in tons of blockbuster movies, it has never occurred to me that these celebrity starlets Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, and Winona Ryder used to have "not-long" noses during their puberty days.

Yes. Don't be shocked. If you still are, then recover from it. The secret is out, and its time for you fans to face the truth: these three lovely ladies went under the knife.

If you're wondering where they had it, then let me tell you something. No, they didn't have rhinoplasty in Los Angeles, but they rather did it somewhere in California.

In my humble opinion though, I like Angelina and Salma's noses better than Winona. Why? Its because Winona looks like an old woman to me (not that she is getting younger though, hehe).

I wonder how much money they paid to get that "perfect" nose of theirs?

Facelift works wonders in Miami!

12:18 AM, 2007-Sep-30 .. Posted in Online stuff and more... .. 0 comments .. Link
I wonder if facelift hurts. I've never had a close interaction with a friend who have gone under the knife. So its not easy for me to judge those people who went with it.

But if you are serious about changing features, then there's no better way than to get your butt out of the couch and fly over to one of the few places that do wonders.

"I had a Miami facelift!" One girl squeals out. As skeptical and weird as it may sounds like, but yeah, the girl is talking about getting herself a facelift in one of the best surgeons in Miami. So if you're still having a hard time looking for a facelift surgeon, then fly to Miami... the place where you get the beauty satisfaction!

San Diego: another great place for fun and excitement

12:00 AM, 2007-Sep-30 .. Posted in Random Thoughts and Revelations .. 0 comments .. Link
I have never stepped foot in the land of the "green money", but my grandma did!

My grandma just came back here in the country for a visit, and she got tons of great stories to tell. Although she works full time, but that didn't stop her to have fun once in awhile, together with her new husband, Dan.

She lives in Chicago district, but once in awhile, she and her husband took off work and heads out in San Diego. What do they do there? "Have fun!" My grandma explains. My grandma has been talking nonstop about San Diego entertainment: film festivals, great food and restaurants, bars and sports clubs, and racing car activities.

So guys, if you get the chance to drop by San Diego, make a pit stop and stay there for awhile. Explore the place, have fun, and enjoy!

Guess who designed this couture dress?

I was browsing around for some celebrity gossip news when I stumbled upon this one picture that is so irresistible to look at. Check the picture below:

Guess which dress was made from?

Of course, its none other than one of the greatest icons in designer clothes, Versace! Gosh, looking at the picture makes me wanna drool... I wonder when I can own a sophisticated dress such as this?

A friend's "friend's dilemma shared

11:09 PM, 2007-Sep-29 .. Posted in Random Thoughts and Revelations .. 0 comments .. Link
One time while I was chatting with one of my Asian American friends, she mentioned about a common friend of hers who was in a dilemma. I was asking her what the problem was, and she said that her friend was thinking of going under the knife. When I asked her for details, she said, "My friend is getting Cary plastic surgery." Then she further explained that her friend found it on the internet and maybe wants to try it out.

I don't know what that friend of hers is thinking. I'm not really into plastic surgery so I guess all I could say is good luck to her. If all goes well, then good for her.

Plastic surgery: a way to stardom and success?

9:01 PM, 2007-Sep-29 .. Posted in Random Thoughts and Revelations .. 0 comments .. Link
Plastic surgery was taboo when it first came out. There were tons of criticisms and issues regarding its use and how it degrades one person. People who are against it says that it lowers the self-esteem of certain individuals because they were not "perfect" as they say, and would gradually choose plastic surgery to fix their "ugly" features or whatever they call it.

But in this new century, people readily accept surgery as if it was a fad or a craze. Most who can avail of these services are either rich or a celebrity. They have money to pay for consultations with cosmetic surgeons in Chicago, Illinois or in any other part of the world. What good is your richness if you're not pretty or beautiful? How can you become popular if you don't have what they call, a "face value"?

Let's face it. Being pretty and beautiful is everything today. No, I'm not being very harsh here. It's the truth. It's a fact guys. When you land a job, you must be at least, presentable or pretty enough. How in the world did some of those top celebrities reached their high status in the first place? Some of them went under the knife. They just wouldn't admit it.

I am not saying this to get people mad at me. I must tell you, I ain't no pretty girl. I'm butt ugly. I'm not lying here. And I have nothing against pretty girls, okay? But what I'm saying here is the truth. This is a sad reality, and I bet a lot of you poor souls out there feel what I feel too. I'm not here to argue or convince you, but its enough that I have said my piece.

Now its time for you to bash me!!!
